College Assessment Processes

Curriculum maps facilitate assessment planning for the College of Education and Integrative Studies. Program learning goals help faculty plan the curriculum, examine program coherence in terms of course sequencing, and evaluate the learning of all majors and programs. Explicit learning outcomes signal the department’s disciplinary identity and provide a common language for students, faculty, and staff.

The assessment calendar for the College of Education and Integrative Studies outlines the timing of assessment activites for the departments of Education, Ethnic and Women Studies, Liberal Studies and Interdisciplinary General Education program.

Education

  • Curriculum Maps

Teacher Education: The DRAFT of the curriculum map shows how TED programs meet the Teaching Performance Expectations.

Graduate and Pedagogical Studies: The Competency Matrix for Core Graduate Degree Courses designates in which courses the competencies are addressed in the programs.

Education Administrative Credential: The curriculum map shows how California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (CPSEL) are aligned to the Adminstrative Services Credential coursework.

Education Specialist Program: The Standards and Learning Outcomes  are addressed in the program document

These matrices link the university learning outcomes to the learning outcomes of the Teacher Education Credential (Basic and Advanced) programs and the Graduate and Pedagogical Studies Master’s of Arts degree.

Ethnic & Women Studies

The curriculum map shows how courses in Gender, Ethnicity and Multicultural Studies program meet student learning outcomes of the Department.

This matrix links the university learning outcomes to the Ethnic and Women’s studies learning outcomes.

Interdiscliplinary General Educaton

The curriculum map matrix shows how courses in the IGE program meet student learning outcomes.

This matrix links the university learning outcomes to the Interdisciplinary General Education learning outcomes.

Liberal Studies

The curriculum map facilitates assessment planning for the Department of Liberal Studies. This curriculum map is meant to be used as a guide for course development and to outline and direct continuity of skills and knowledge throughout Liberal Studies department courses in the Liberal Studies curriculum.

This matrix links the university learning outcomes to the Liberal Studies learning outcomes.

Assessment Processes

Each program and department submit an assessment update report on an annual basis to Academic Affairs.

WASC Rubrics

Rubrics are used by the campus and the visiting team to assess the extent to which the programs meet various expectations.

The educational effectiveness framework includes the key descriptive terms and elements related to student and institutional learning.
