Admission to the University as a Graduate Student
– Single Subject Credential Candidate
Meet with Single
Subject Advisor in your content area for subject
matter review, BCAP interview.
Attend Credential Program Orientation (now included in TED405)
If you are planning on teaching mathematics or science,
also attend Intern
orientation session.

| Take prerequisite courses:
- Conditions in Contemporary Schooling (TED 405)*
- Foundations of Educational Computer Literacy (GED
500L)
- Pedagogical Foundations (TED 406)*
- Secondary Reading and Literacy (TED 432)*
*These courses require classroom observations. If you
are not finding enough teachers for your subject area,
please contact the single subject advisor for that subject.

Complete and submit the Basic Credential Application
Packet (BCAP).
If you are planning on being and Intern, also complete
and submit Intern Application. |

Take Foundations and Methods courses:
- Education in a Diverse Society (TED 407 co- or pre-requisite for Intern eligibility)
- Secondary Curriculum and Methods (TED 434). Please
take section appropriate for single subject area. These classes are only offered during Fall & Spring quarters.
- Secondary Writing and Literacy (TED 442)
- Planning and Presentation in the Secondary Classroom
(TED 446)

| Submit Application for Student Teaching
(If you are not already an Intern) |

Take Directed Teaching courses:
- Special Populations (TED 551 *may be taken earlier
in program)
- Secondary School Health Education (KIN 442 *may
be taken earlier in program)
- Teaching Performance Assessment (TED 440taken during
last quarter of Directed Teaching or Internship)
- Seminar (TED 436/438 *need two quarters. Interns
take TED 439)
- Directed Teaching (TED 435/437 *need two quarters.
Interns take TED 439. 16 units total.)
