Cal Poly Pomona Campus

In 1938, the 157 acre Voorhis School for Boys became the Southern California branch of California State Polytechnic School San Luis Obispo. In 1945, the parent institution was renamed California State Polytechnic College. The 813 acre W.K.Kellogg Arabian Horse Ranch was deeded to the State in 1949, and in 1956, it became the satellite campus of California State Plytechnic College. In 1961, The Master Plan for Higher Education established the California State College System,a nd in 1971, enabling legislation changed the name to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Since then, the campus has become known as Cal Poly Pomona. The University is situated in the San Gabriel Valley in the County of Los Angeles.

The Campus is located south of the San Bernardino Freeway (Interstate 10) in close proximity to the Corona Freeway (Highway 71), the Orange Freeway (Highway 57), and the Foothills Freeway (Interstate 210). The campus is easily accessible from Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura County, Riverside adn the Inland Empire.

The Campus of Cal-Poly Pomona covers approximately 900 acres of rolling hills nestled beneath the San Gabriel mountains. The grounds consist of farms, parks, open fields and woodland, providing excellent opportunity for field work in many disciplines, including Surveying Engineering.

About 17,000 full-time students are enrolled in Cal-Poly Pomona. To accomodate these students, the university and the College of Engineering in particular, have a full range of modern facilities, including lecture rooms, common rooms, study rooms, dining rooms, laboratories, library, bookstore, computer facilities, gymnasia, athletic fields, ehalth services and student residences.
