Host Civil Engineering Finishes First In PSWC Competition
The Civil Engineering Department is the leader in polytechnic education, where hands-on learning is the foundation of a broad-based educational experience. The Civil Engineering undergraduate program, one of the largest undergraduate programs in the nation in terms of student numbers, currently has 1375 students. About 95 percent of them are from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties due to the fact that the campus is located at the juncture of these four counties.
The success of our graduate program results, to a great extent, from the solid curriculum that incorporates theory and practice in the learning-centered environment. Students are provided with opportunities to apply their knowledge in hands-on projects, collaborate with faculty members on research, and participate in valuable internships and service-learning programs.
Provide the best civil engineering learning experience.
To meet the challenges of an evolving society, we provide practice‐oriented civil
engineering education that fosters personal, professional and social responsibility;
technical excellence and creativity; and effective communication, teamwork and
leadership.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) awarded Cal Poly Pomona a $1 million, 3-year contract to provide technical assistance, perform research, and develop training materials in the area of pavement recycling and reclaiming. Based on this initial funding and in response to a call for support from the pavement recycling industry as well as public agencies, a university center dedicated to the advancement of pavement recycling and reclaiming was established at Cal Poly Pomona under the auspices of the Civil Engineering Department and the College of Engineering.
The Pavement Recycling and Reclaiming Center (PR2C) will provide pavement design professionals and public agencies with the knowledge and tools necessary to use pavement recycling and reclaiming as a feasible and competitive alternative to traditional pavement maintenance and rehabilitation strategies. For more information about the PR2 Center please contact Dr. Dragos Andrei, Technical Director at 909.869.2487 or dandrei@csupomona.edu.
You may learn more about the PR2Center at its website.
The Civil Engineering Department has adopted a new policy regarding classroom examinations. This new policy covers tests, quizzes, mid-terms, finals, and any other written exam in civil engineering courses. You can find the Policy here.
