College of Business Administration

Dean's Welcome

Dean Richard Lapidus

Hello, my name is Rich Lapidus, Dean of the College of Business Administration.  I am pleased that you have decided to explore our website and discover the many unique programs and opportunities available to both our graduate and undergraduate students.  The College of Business Administration has a long tradition of delivering innovative and transformational experiences necessary for our graduates to become the global business leaders of tomorrow.   As one of only nine universities officially bearing the polytechnic appellation, our programs emphasize learn-by-doing curricula resulting in career-focused and marketplace-ready professionals.  Students graduate our programs as skilled problem-solvers instilled with a sense of life-long learning, a spirit of civic engagement and the ethical framework necessary to “hit the ground running” and experience immediate success.

Cal Poly Pomona is situated on the beautiful 1,400+ acre horse ranch formerly owned by W.K Kellogg the cereal pioneer and philanthropist.  While the University is large, our students experience a 'small school feel' supported by a close-knit community of students and access to first-rate teacher-scholars.  Students find our faculty to be both challenging and passionate about their subject matter and willing to share their expertise in and out of the classroom. We also draw on the talent and resources from our neighboring communities -- Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties -- so students can immerse themselves in contemporary business challenges with the help of our industry partners.  The end result is a College and University  that has been recognized by thePrinceton Review, which included us in its 2014 edition of “Best 295 Business Schools,” and U.S. News and World Report that continually ranks us as one of the premier master’s-level public universities in the West.

Aside from the mainstream academic experience, students can participate in a wide range of business organizations and clubs which helps to expand professional and social networks as well as the opportunity to connect with students of similar interests.   As students expand their networks they will encounter a student body that is one of the most diverse in the country, which adds to the richness of the college experience.  Our graduates will tell you that their experience in the College of Business Administration was a rewarding one, and that the multifaceted curricula and enrichment opportunities enabled them to achieve their vision for the future.  I know with the endless possibilities available, you too will be able achieve your dreams.  It is my hope that we will see you on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Richard S. Lapidus
