Students are required to present their solutions to problems in a clear and coherent form. Complete sentences are required whether they be verbal or symbolic, and these sentences must be organized in such a fashion as to give a clear exposition of the problem.
Academic Integrity: Cal Poly Pomona's official rules are on page 43 of the 2001-2003 Course Catalog. You need to know that if a student is caught cheating then that student will receive a zero on the assignment, quiz, or test and the incident will be reported to the Director of Judicial Affairs. A student caught cheating may also receive a failing grade in the course.
You may, however, work and study with your classmates. In fact, you may find that this will help you learn the material. While you may work on homework problems with your classmates, or with students in another section of this course, you MUST write up and turn in your own solution to the homework problems and this must be in your own words.
Exams: I do not give make up exams or quizes, or accept late homework. There will be two one hour exams worth 25% of the course grade each. The quizes and/or homework will be worth 20%. The final will be worth 30%. If an exam cannot be taken at the assigned time for a legitimate reason the weight of that exam will be carried onto the final. If possible, advance notice of the inabillity to take an exam must be given. I will grade homework/quiz asignments out of at most 90% of the possible score or drop two quizes, so if you miss one no harm is done. Find classmates that you can get assignments from if you miss my assignment in class. I won't answer e-mails or return phone calls on assignments. No late homework will be accepted.
