B.                 Teaching Experience:

(1)               California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, 6/81 to present.  Started as a lecturer and currently am a tenured full professor. I have also served as chair of the accounting department.  Courses taught at graduate and undergraduate level include E-Business, Cost/Managerial Accounting, International Accounting, Intermediate Accounting, Introductory/Financial Accounting and Accounting Information Systems. Designed and taught various online courses in Introductory Accounting, Cost Accounting and E-Business.

During service as Chair of the department, promoted curriculum development and research by faculty and developed alumni relations including successful fund raising efforts. Faculty published extensively and traveled to conferences. Technology was introduced into many accounting courses. New courses related to E-Business were developed and other courses were revised.  Fund raising was outstanding and a major donation of software was received.  Alumni relations were improved, the Accounting Advisory Council met regularly and provided input and an alumni newsletter was revived. Three new web sites were set up  for the department. Student recruiting at high schools and community colleges was pursued and targets were achieved. Courted prospective employers for students. The student internship program was successful. A student honor society was chartered. Supervised adjunct faculty and accounting department staff.

Developed and taught innovative course for accounting students titled E-Business–Risk Management  incorporating state of the art technology. This course was initially offered in 2000-2001 as an experimental course (ACC 499) by the accounting department and has now been formally adopted and is being offered as an elective course (ACC 405) in the accounting department for accounting majors.  Also helped develop new Introductory Accounting courses based on the recommendations of the Accounting Education Change Commission (AECC) and the American Accounting Association which have placed Cal Poly at the cutting edge nationwide of new curriculum developments in this area. Helped develop and taught Accounting Information system courses which incorporated extensive computer applications into the course including use of a general ledger package and spreadsheet and database applications as well as extensive case material. Incorporated extensive group work, cases and written and oral communication exercises and technology into all courses taught in order to promote active learning by students. Received consistently superior student evaluations in all courses taught.

New materials that I have currently developed and taught are online supported courses in  Introductory Accounting, Cost Accounting and E-Business. This was accomplished using the WebCt course delivery system. These courses were taught in the 2000-2002 academic years. I have received extensive training (2 sessions of two weeks each) in developing online courses at Cal Poly and a five week online teaching course from the University of Maryland. I have also developed modules to integrate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) into a Cost Accounting course which was first taught in Spring, 2001 and am continuing to integrate ERP into my current Cost Accounting courses. This includes an overview of ERP and PeopleSoft, usefulness of ERP softweare, Data entry into PeopleSoft modules and querying databases and generating reports in PeopleSoft. I have also received training  in PeopleSoft Enterprise Resource Planning software at PeopleSoft training locations in California. I am continuing to receive  PeopleSoft training.

I have also been teaching regularly in the new E-Business major in the College of Business Administration  at Cal Poly, Pomona. I am also the course coordinator for the EBZ 301 course (Introduction to e-Business).  I developed WebCt online materials to enhance the teaching of EBZ 301 and offered the enhanced course in Fall, 2001.
