Alternative Vehicle Club - F.A.Q.

Q: Why join the Alternative Vehicle Club?
A: The Alternative Vehicle Club is an opportunity to take what you've learned in your classes, and apply it. Classes teach you a lot of theory, but they don't really teach you how to apply that theory. Cal Poly's learning philosphy has always been to "learn by doing", and that's exactly what we do. There is no better way to learn about alternative vehicles than to build some of your own. Not only you will design vehicles, but you will also be building and testing them. In addition, it is an opportunity to beef up your resume, learn about"green design", make new friends, and just have fun.

Q: Do I need to know anything in order to work on the projects that the Alternative Vehicle Club is working on?
A: No. As a matter of fact, most of the members first joined the club knowing very little.

Q: What will I learn?
A: You will learn what it takes to design a vehicle and actually make it. In doing this, you will pick up skills such as soldering, composite work, machining, and many more skills.

Q: Do you need be in a specific major to be in the Alternative Vehicle Club?
A: No. The Alternative Vehicle Club is open to all majors.
