NEWS CONFERENCES:
Media members wishing to interview student-athletes or coaches must request the interview through a member of the sports information staff at the event. There will be personnel on hand to escort the student-athletes to the interview tent, which is located beyond the South End of the stadium and next to the final warm-up area. A map is enclosed in your media packet.
Student-athletes are allowed a maximum of a 10-minute cooling off period at the conclusion of the awards ceremony that follows each final. If the student-athlete is ready prior to the 10 minutes, he or she can participate in interviews as soon as they are ready. However, they are not allowed to leave the competition area before conducting their media interviews.
A student-athlete who is competing in more than one event on a given day may request to delay the interview period until after concluding their final event of the day. The only exception to this is if a record was set and then the student-athlete should be made available to the media shortly after that event. If time permits, the media coordinator should get a quote from the student-athlete to distribute to the media.
Student-athletes may be requested for interviews after preliminary heats with the 10-minute cooling off period in affect.
