After another successful season in 2003, Cal Poly Pomona’s women’s volleyball program looks forward to keeping things going in 2004.

The Broncos went 19-11 last season and narrowly missed qualifying for the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time since 1997. Cal Poly Pomona finished fourth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, which is one of the top volleyball conferences in the country. The Broncos, who won their final four matches of ths season, were rated seventh in the last Pacific Region rankings, just missing the six-team playoff field. Head Coach Rosie Wegrich, the Broncos' all-time wins leader with a 220-148 record at Cal Poly Pomona, has guided the team to 39 wins over the past two seasons, which is the best two-year stretch for the Broncos since 1993-94.

Cal Poly Pomona returns four starters and seven players overall from last season’s squad. Allison Anderson, who earned All-America honorable mention and first-team All-Pacific Region honors in 2003, headlines the list of returning players. Emily Kennedy returns for her third season with the Broncos, while junior Kellie Francis will be another key returner.

Cal Poly Pomona has a rich tradition in women's volleyball and has made the NCAA Division II playoffs 11 times since the program started in 1980. Wegrich has guided the Broncos into the playoffs five times and has led the team to 20-win seasons four times, including the 2002 campaign when Cal Poly Pomona was 20-11.

The Broncos are 39-22 over the past two seasons and maintain their reputation for being one of the top programs in the NCAA Division II Pacific Region.
