Lorenzo Medina
January 25, 1977 – June 2, 2012
Lorenzo Medina came to the Department of Architecture at Cal Poly Pomona in 2005. He transferred from East Los Angeles Community College with a very high GPA and was placed into the third year of the B.Arch. program. Lorenzo overcame many challenges to be in this program. He graduated with honors, but, tragically, could not attend his commencement on June 8 because he passed away the weekend before the ceremony. His son accepted his diploma in his place.
Lorenzo was outstanding in technical and history classes, and was a very talented and passionate designer who thought deeply about his work. He believed that architecture should have meaning and be able to positively impact the lives of those who experienced it. He had amazing promise as an architect, as he excelled at all aspects of the profession. It is very sad that his early passing cut short such a promising career. He is survived by his wife Soledad and his three children. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife and family.
The Department of Architecture is hosting a reception for alumni and friends of the program.
We invite you to join us for an exhibition of our 2012 Senior & Graduate Thesis Projects.
If you are an alumnus, we would like to encourage you to bring friends you went to school with and have a reunion.
The reception will be held on
Tuesday, June 5, 2012, 6 - 8 pm
