Yes, even current students donate to the Cal Poly Pomona Annual Fund! During 2003-2004 academic year , more than 700 students donated $20,000 to the Student Scholarship Endowment Fund ! Current students directly benefit from the support and contributions of countless others, so it only seems fitting that they make an investment in their education and that of future generations of Cal Poly Pomona students!
Student Scholarship Endowment Fund:
"It is our dream that with each of us doing a little, we can do a lot!" Joel Lopez '06, Annual Fund student caller
As a current student, you know that getting a higher education isn't getting any cheaper. Each year there are increases in some area -, fees, books, housing...the list goes on and on. That's why Cal Poly Pomona's Annual Fund, in conjunction with the Office of Financial Aid, established the Student Scholarship Endowment Fund. The endowment fund will provide scholarships for students today and in the future. In an endowment fund, the principle is never used . Scholarships are awarded from the interest earned in the fund. Imagine how much would be in this fund 5 or 10 years from now!
Since its establishment in 1998, the endowment fund has reached the $50,000 mark; one of the largest endowments held by the Financial Aid Office!
Our hope is to raise $20,000 this year to fund even more scholarships for students just like you!

Senior Class Gift:
Most students are probably aware that it's a tradition for the graduating class to give a gift to the university to make the campus a better place for future students. The Class Gift is presented to President Ortiz at commencement. There are many previous class gifts all over campus, including:
The clock outside the Bronco Bookstore from the class of 1993; The gazebo in the rose garden from the class of 1994; The bike racks all over campus from the classes of 1987 and 1988; The flag plaza outside the Union Plaza that you see from Kellogg Drive from the class of 1989; The bridge in the Japanese Garden from the classes of 2002 and 2003; Additional outside seating for the Campus Center Marketplace from the class of 1999. |
Graduating seniors representing each of the colleges meet and decide on what should be contributed to maximize the benefit for the campus community.
The Class of 2005 decided to contribute benches for the Japanese Garden . The Japanese Garden is a peaceful place to get away from the pressures of campus life, and now, thanks to the Class of 2005, this serene setting is even more user friendly! Keeping with the theme and look of the garden, solid granite benches will be placed throughout the garden. One has already been placed overlooking the pond, and several more are on the way! The Class of 2005 raised over $10,000 for this wonderful enhancement to our campus!
