Cal Poly Pomona is undergoing a major initiative called Prioritization and Recovery, and we want feedback from alumni like you. The P&R Initiative is a process that is evaluating each academic and support program on campus in order to find efficient ways to enhance the university, resulting in a proposal for university President Michael Ortiz. Charles Lindsley Memorial Vocal Scholarship Fundraiser, 'It Takes Two'
Nov. 2 – This performance features faculty, alumni and students in duets from Spamalot, Footloose, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Light in the Piazza, The King and I, Cosi fan tutte, Lakme and more. Performers include Kari Cheng, Ashley Follett, Christina and Eleanor Galit, Justin Lee, Cindy Varghese, Mario Rosales, Alyssa Cossey, Ammy Beltran and many more. Susan Burns directs and Janet Noll will play piano. The fundraiser will be held at Cal Poly Pomona's Music Recital Hall at 8 p.m. Tickets are $7. Read more...

Prioritization and Recovery (P & R) Process
Nov. 7 – An alumni forum will be hosted by the Cal Poly Pomona Alumni Association, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., in the Music Recital Hall in Building 24, Room 191, adjacent to the University Theatre. Please stop by the kiosk in Lot D and purchase a parking permit for $5. This event is designed to encourage alumni to be educated, informed and understand the P & R process. Susan Egan Returns to Cal Poly Pomona
Nov. 8 – The Hugh O. La Bounty Chair of Interdisciplinary Applied Knowledge, in cooperation with the Cal Poly Pomona Music department, is pleased to welcome Susan Egan, a star of stage and screen, back to Cal Poly Pomona for a solo concert. Voices of Youth Spoken Word
Nov. 10 – Youth from the Pomona High School Community Action Team will coordinate a spoken word event focusing on identity and youth voices, which are themes found in "Bless Me, Ultima," the Pomona Big Read selection. This event is part of The Big Read, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest. Client Relations Seminar
Nov. 16 – The College of the Extended University is offering a one-day seminar where participants will learn how to attract, satisfy and keep the best clients. Taught by Gary Goodman, president of Customersatisfaction.com, Clientrelations.com and The Goodman Organization, Inc. Read more.

Family Fun Days: Animals in Literature
Nov. 24 – Various fun activities will be used to examine the role of animals in literature. Storytellers, art activities, as well as live animals will be utilized to spark awareness and curiosity. Heather PerryBrewing the Best
Heather Perry '04 is America's Top Espresso Barista

International business alumna Heather Perry has taken coffee-making to a new steamy high.

The world-recognized espresso barista won the Specialty Coffee Association of America's 2007 United States Barista Championship in May. This accomplishment qualified her to advance to the next level-boldly representing the United States against national champions from 49 other countries at the World Barista Competition in Tokyo, Japan this past summer. Business Leaders Gather For University Summit
More than three dozen influential business leaders from across the country convened for the university's inaugural National Development Council (NDC) weekend summit from Oct. 26-28. Members of this new advisory panel, both alumni and non-alumni, were appointed by university President Michael Ortiz for two-year terms. Read more...

President's Council Scholars Honored
Cal Poly Pomona recognizes outstanding student achievement through the President's Council Scholars program. Considered the most prestigious scholarship series at the university, President's Council Scholarships have been awarded to 20 undergraduate and four graduate students, who represent each of the academic colleges. Broncos Step Off Field & In Front Of Camera
Look out SportsCenter, there's a new sports show on the tube. The Bronco Athletic Association has released its pilot episode of Bronco Sports Roundup. The ESPN-esque show looks to promote Bronco Athletics with sports highlights and interviews from athletes and coaches. Read more...

6th Annual Salmon/Halibut Fishing Trip to British Columbia
For the sixth year running, Ron Simons, aka "Mr. Cal Poly Pomona" will escort an exclusive group of anglers up to the western shores of the Queen Charlotte Islands in northern British Columbia for a one-of-a-kind Cal Poly Pomona Alumni fishing trip. The dates of the trip are Aug. 3-6 (with an extra day of travel on each end). At the time of this writing there are only two spaces remaining, and will be assigned on a "first-come first-served" basis. For complete details, visit http://www.csupomona.edu/advancement/fishing.

Fellowship for Architecture Alumni
The 2008 Cavin Family Traveling Fellowship has established a First Prize of $10,000 for self-devised foreign travel-study. A design competition will determine the scholar. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen under 35 years of age as of March 1, 2008. Candidates must have a professional architecture degree from Cal Poly Pomona or the University of Oregon. Applications are due on or before Feb. 15. The Cavin Fellowship Web site provides general information, a description of the scholarship requirements, and previous submissions at www.cavinfellowship.org.
