Rose Float Decorations Week

It's the home stretch for this year's Rose Float. The
two Cal Polys have joined each half of the float, Bob's
Barnacle Band. Join alumni, faculty and friends in this
popular, annual rush to put the finishing touches on
the float for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade

To Host Hilda Solis Scholarship Dinner and Reception

This annual event, named after Cal Poly Pomona alumna
and Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis, is sponsored by the
Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education and the
Raíces Alumni Chapter. The reception is in honor
of eight students who will receive scholarships for
their distinction in academics and campus/community
service. The dinner and reception will be held in the
Bronco Student Center, from 6 - 9 p.m. Contact the Cesar

Orange
County Sheriff Mike Carona opted to stay out of
this year's California recall election despite
his wave of regional popularity and close talks
with California Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"You
know, I am already a politician," says Carona,
a '92 management and human resources graduate.
"I got elected to this job, and I'm really
proud to represent citizens. There will be something
after sheriff; I don't know what that's going
to be. There was a rumor that I was going to run
for the U.S. SenateI've dispelled that rumor,
and now, because of the recall, there was a rumor
that I was going to run for governor. Read
