When landscape architecture students in this issue's spotlight discovered the last remaining wetland environment at the mouth of the Dominguez Channel, they were recognized as making a positive impact in the community. Self-Defense Class for Women
April 9 – Learn tips on personal safety, physical defense techniques and assertiveness training at a self defense class for women. The event is hosted by the Stop Violence Office as part of the Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April. Class to take place 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Java the Hut (Building 71). April 19 – Make valuable connections at this large, outdoor job fair for part-time, summer internships, temporary and full-time career positions. "Out for Blood" Round II
April 23-25 – The race is on. Cal Poly Pomona hopes to beat Mt. SAC during a 3-day blood drive at the Bronco Student Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. After losing to Mt. Sac in October by 55 units, Cal Poly Pomona is out for blood. Make your donor appointment online at www.givelife.org and enter sponsor code "CLPOLY."

Landscape Architecture Department Celebrates 50 Years
April 23-29 – Celebrate the collective past, present and future of the Department of Landscape Architecture. This six-day event is designed to reconnect alumni, friends and former faculty. Read more.

May 11 – Recognizing the academic achievements and community involvement of Cal Poly Pomona students, this event is sponsored by the Cesar E. Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch Hosts First Tractor and Rod Show
May 12 – The Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch will host its first Tractor & Rod Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Alumni, students, faculty and staff are invited to enter their pre-1980 hot rod in the car show for great prizes. A tractor parade, tractor or horse rides and straw mazes are part of the entertainment. University- grown produce will be available along with on-site fresh cooking.
