Brian Morrison '90, computer science, is currently a member of the software management planning and architecture development for the NASA Constellation Program. Before joining the California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (Caltech-JPL) he was involved in reconnaissance aircraft and fighter jet avionics systems architectures at Lockheed Advanced Systems. Since joining JPL in 1990, he has been involved in systems development for the Deep Space Network, real-time software development for spacecraft, space borne instrument development and ground data systems engineering. In recent years he has managed the Advanced Mission Systems Engineering Group and the Mission Software Systems Engineering Group at JPL where he has been instrumental in developing software cost estimation models and techniques for utilizing integrated development tools to reduce the number of software defects in delivered spacecraft software. At Cal Poly Pomona she helped win a Division 11 national tennis championship and was a two-time All-American.
Beverly Smith ‘94, accounting, was appointed as the accounting supervisor for the City of Chino Hills in March. She is a certified public accountant and for the past 9 years she has held the position of controller for a number of private entities. Smith received the award for Administrative Employee of the Year. She currently resides in Chino Hills, CA with her husband of 30 years.
Diane von Gunten '94, music, is a singer/songwriter, actress and performing musician. She is involved in several musical groups such as the Platte River Dixie Band as a pianist and singer. She has also performed in a jazz trio called Allegria, where she wrote, sung and played the piano. NLINE is a custom apparel and promotional products manufacturer and importer that supplies sports teams and business across the U.S. Woodland moved to North Carolina in the late 1990’s to pursue a career in motorsports. William Warner '95, chemistry, continued his education at USC and received a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry. He then spent a year conducting organic chemistry research as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He has authored many scientific papers, including a publication co-authored by a Nobel Laureate. He is currently a Senior Chemist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Lori Whalen '98, animal science, is a naturalist with The Nature Conservancy's Irvine Ranch Land Reserve where she has taken the lead role in developing and implementing an outdoor environmental education program for grade school children based on the California State Content Standards. Lori also leads and develops interpretive tours for the general public, assists in training docents, and is managing editor of Preservation News, the quarterly newsletter of The Nature Conservancy's Irvine Ranch Land Reserve and the Laguna Greenbelt. Prior to working with The Nature Conservancy, Lori was a field naturalist and media relations coordinator for Inside the Outdoors, the Orange County Department of Education's outdoor environmental education program. Lori is also the Public Relations Chair for the Friends of the Shipley Nature Center, a docent at Crystal Cove State Park, and a volunteer at the Orange County Zoo.
