  • Welcome to the Web page for PHY 234 - Introduction to Electromagnetic Radiation and Special Relativity.
  • Course Description

Physics 234, Introduction to Electromagnetic Radiation and Special Relativity is a continuation of the introductory physics sequence Phy 131-133. Starting where Phy 133 leaves off, the course covers AC circuits, Maxwell's Equations, electromagnetic waves and their properties and Einstein's theory of Special Relativity. Thus, it is a transition from the pre-20th century physics of the first year sequence and the modern physics of this class and Phy 235 - Introduction to Quantum Physics. These two courses are well suited for physics majors and minors or those who want an introduction to modern physics. (3 credits).
