College Award
John E. Andrews Student Leader Of The Year Award
Award: Two awards of $500 each. for one undergraduate and one graduate student
Criteria:
- 60% - Leadership contributions will be considered on a qualitative basis. Success, involvement, effectiveness, time commitment, innovation of activities, positions held, the degree of responsibility, and contributions made.
- 20% - Minimum GPA 3.0 (undergraduate); 3.5 (graduate)
- 20% - Recommendations from faculty
- Students must be a) Enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona for at least 3 quarters; b) Full-time Cal Poly Pomona student; and c) Sophomore through graduate standing.
- Nomination Procedure
- Nominations may be made by fellow students, faculty, and staff.
- The nominator outlines, in letter form, the leadership activities of the previous three or four quarters. This letter should provide a supporting rationale for selecting the nominee. A sample of outstanding work by the student (examples: thesis, senior project or other written capstone paper, research posters) may be included to support contributions in the area of scholarship.
- A selection panel of faculty, staff, and students selects the two recipients.
- The Dean’s Office will determine whether or not GPA and residency requirements have been met.

Award: 3 awards of $900 each
Criteria:
- Open to new students entering fall quarter in any major degree program in the College of Agriculture, Cal Poly Pomona
- Achievement based on official transcripts and, for freshmen, SAT and ACT test scores
- SAT scores of 550 Math and 550 Critical Reading, or ACT scores of 24 English and 23 Math
- Extracurricular and leadership activities
- Work and/or volunteer experience; career development in areas related to chosen major
- Recommendations-two letters from teachers, counselors, and/or administration

Award: $600
Criteria:
- Open to incoming freshmen who have been admitted to the following academic year

- Demonstrated strong interest and dedication to the Arabian breed and/or the equine industry
- Demonstrated strengths and dedication in the areas of citizenship and leadership

Award: One or more scholarships up to $600
Award may be used for fees or scholarship activity (research project, travel expenses in connection with research presentations at professional meetings, or other project as described in essay)

- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0

Criteria:

- Current enrollment in at least 12 units, including at least 4 units in the major curriculum
