Agricultural Education Program

Preparation of teachers of agricultural education for the public secondary schools of California. Specialized preprofessional and professional courses are offered for undergraduate and graduate (fifth year) students.


Animal & Veterinary Sciences Department

Scientific study of animals and animal products. Options in Pre-Veterinary Science/Graduate School, Animal Industries/Business Management, Animal Health Science, and Equine Industry.


Apparel Merchandising & Management Department

Study of the manufacture, management, and merchandising of apparel. Options in Fashion Retailing and Apparel Manufacturing.


Food Marketing & Agribusiness Management Department

Application of business concepts to the food and fiber distribution system, i.e. banking and finance, product processing, sales and marketing, government regulation, communications, facility management, and international trade. Options in Food Marketing and Management and International Agribusiness.


Human Nutrition & Food Science Department

The Human Nutrition and Food Science Department offers two Bachelor of Science degree programs, Foods & Nutrition and Food Science & Technology, that prepare students for challenging and rewarding careers and provide a strong academic background for graduate study and research.


Plant Science Department

Scientific study of the identification, analysis, classification and management of soils. Specialization in business, computer applications, pest control, environmental quality, and agricultural production.

Agriscapes

AGRIscapes promotes agricultural and environmental literacy through research, education, and demonstrations of alternative methods to grow food, conserve water, reduce energy needs and recycle agricultural and urban waste for resource efficiency and community enhancement.


Apparel Technology & Research Center (ATRC)

The Apparel Technology and Research Center provides an outreach education and resource information service to the apparel and sewn products industry.


Center for Antimicrobial Research and Food Safety

CAR involves reserach on microbial food borne pathogens of public health and economic significance with an emphasis on pathogens associated with muscle foods (meat and meat products).


Center for Turf, Irrigation, & Landscape Technology (CTILT)

CTILT provides a focal point for research, and community outreach in the ares of turfgrass, ornamental plant materials, landscape irrigation technology. landscape operations, sportturf and golf course management and preservation of natural resources.


Equine Research Center (ERC)

The ERC offers a unique and dynamic program focused on educating both university students and the public about the horse. Students work closely with faculty amidst modern care, management and scientific facilities located on the university 1,438 acre campus.


W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center

The W. K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center is home to approximately 85 purebred Arabian horses used in Equine Sciences’ teachings, outreach, research and internationally recognized breeding and training programs. Facilities at the center include 38 acres of pasture, three barns, foaling stalls, a breeding area, a veterinary clinic, a farrier shop, four arenas and a grandstand.

Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch

The Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch is located at AgriScapes with campus farm, orchard, nursery and apiary products.  Delicatessen, locally grown fruits and vegetables, organic and health foods are available 7 days a week.


Agricultural Research Institute (ARI)

The California State University Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) is a diverse and comprehensive multi-campus applied agricultural and environmental research program.


Meat Lab

The Meat Science facility is part of the Animal & Veterinary Sciences department at Cal Poly University. It is a working facility for students studying in the areas of Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Food Science, Hotel & Restaurant Management and a host of other majors.

 

Green House

The green houses include over 40,000 sq. ft. of green house and shade house space that supports instruction, research and production of edible and ornamental plants.  This includes the Raymond Burr Orchid collection, Weeks Roses research and rose breeding facilities.


Beef Unit

The Cal Poly Pomona Beef Unit hosts an annual feeder calf sale to benefit high school Future Farmers of America and student programs.


Sheep & Swine Unit

The Cal Poly Pomona Sheep & Swine Unit is used for instruction and is found along University Drive in Ag Valley.
