ADVANCE is working to assess the status of women in the STEM disciplines, establish a baseline for measuring improvements, and establish database for ongoing use.

  • Faculty Salary Data collected in years 2005 and 2008 for ADVANCE is used to determine whether there are gender differences in monthly salaries at Cal Poly Pomona.

  • Space Study conducted in Spring 09 uses available data to determine whether there exist gender differences in allotments of office, research, and teaching space among STEM faculty at Cal Poly Pomona.
        Summary of Findings

 

  • Spring 2009 CPP STEM Work-Life Survey was administered across the sixteen STEM departments at Cal Poly Pomona to help focus ADVANCE activities. Topics addressed in the survey included: tenure & rank status, job motivation, job satisfaction, climate, workload, personal/professional balance and committee work.

  • Initial baseline data collected for ADVANCE depicts Cal Poly Pomona faculty perceptions on women’s advancement in STEM disciplines.

  • Report documents the findings of focus groups conducted in Spring 2007 with faculty in STEM disciplines that attempted to ascertain the current strengths of recruiting and career development efforts for new female faculty in these disciplines.

  • ADVANCE Topicals report findings to the campus on assessment, recruitment, career development and leadership development in the STEM disciplines. ADVANCE Topicals are distributed quarterly.
