Applying for Admission

Applying as a Transfer Student

Admission applications from transfers are accepted primarily in the fall.  However, admissions may become available for specific academic programs during the winter or spring quarters.  You may consult the CSUMentor website to determine which quarters Cal Poly Pomona is open for admission.

Explore and Choose Your Academic Major

As a transfer student, you must select a specific major prior to your enrollment.  We encourage you to choose a second choice major, particularly if you are applying to an impacted major.

Apply Online by the Admission Application Deadline

You must apply during the California State University (CSU) filing period for the quarter for which you are requesting admission.

Fall Quarter October 1 through November 30 of the prior fall
Winter Quarter       June 1 through June 30 of the prior summer
Spring Quarter August 1 through August 30 of the prior summer

The online application and additional information about open quarters, and application deadlines are available at the CSUMentor website.

You will receive an email notification to acknowledge your application has been received by our Office of Admissions & Outreach.  Because provisional admission decisions are based on  self-reported application information, your coursework and all other information must be entered accurately and completely.  You will be required to submit official transcript(s) to verify admission eligibility at a later date.  Admission decisions may be withdrawn for students who misreport academic information or do not met the terms of the admission offer.

Submit Transcripts or Other Documents Only When Requested

Once we review your application, we will notify you by email with instructions and a deadline to submit additional documents including transcripts.  Please do not send your transcript(s) until requested as this may delay the processing of your application.

Additional documents may be required in certain circumstances, including:

  • Additional documents to establish California residency for educational purposes.  See Residency Information if this may apply to you.
  • If you are in the military or a veteran, you will be asked to submit your DD214 or Military ID and documents/transcripts displaying coursework or experience that may be transferable to Cal Poly Pomona.

Pay the Admission Application Fee

Your application requires a $55 application fee that must be paid by the application deadline.  If you have difficulty paying this fee and meet certain criteria, you may apply for a fee waiver which must be submitted by the application deadline.  For more information, go to the CSUMentor website.
