All entering CSU undergraduates admitted to a CSU campus are required, unless exempt, to take the English Placement Test (EPT).
The EPT is not an admission test. The EPT is a placement test that will enable your CSU campus to find out whether you need remedial courses in reading or writing before undertaking college level work requiring these fundamental skills. This is why you must take the EPT before enrollment in the CSU.
If you live outside the state of California, been accepted to a CSU campus, and need to take the EPT or ELM test in your state, e-mail csuout-of-state@ets.org or phone (925) 808-2142. Out-of-state testing is arranged for the second week of the month. There is a fee of $50 for testing outside of California.
