Professional Associates Program

The Professional Associates Program

The overarching goal of the Professional Associates Program is to strengthen and extend the partnerships we have with our surrounding school districts.

Each year of the program, outstanding educators from neighboring school districts join our efforts to enhance teacher preparation on our campus and in their home districts. This will ultimately raise the achievement level of K-12 students, many of whom will then attend Cal Poly Pomona. Professional Associates lend their expertise in mentoring, professional development, and educational technology in projects ranging from intern support to workshop development, from collaborative teaching to research in partnership with faculty.

This year our Professional Associates will lead discussions on the characteristics of this year’s freshmen and a faculty learning community on educational technology (what the 2010 freshman class will already know, understand, and expect in instructional technology); build teaching intern support groups; and present workshops of interest across campus. They will co-teach and research with faculty in several departments. They will also continue in their leadership roles in local, state, and national professional organizations.
