Cal Poly Pomona

Questions & Answers

Who may enroll?

All eligible first year freshman students entering with a declared major who are committed to graduating from Cal Poly Pomona in four years. Architecture majors may participate in a five year graduation pledge program.

How do I know if I'm eligible?

You must be eligible to enroll in the G.E. level Math course appropriate to your major in your very first quarter. You must also be eligible to enroll in G.E. English (ENG 104) in your very first quarter at Cal Poly Pomona. (Math prerequisites have time limits. Please take your math as soon as possible. No supplementary instruction)

Why is the program limited to students with a declared major? Why is changing majors prohibited?

Many departments require that you begin your major and/or prerequisite course work in the first quarter of enrollment so that graduation is possible within four years. If you change your major after your first quarter, the courses you have already completed may not meet the major and/or prerequisite course work for your new major.

How can I enroll in the program?

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you may enroll in the program during your orientation program prior to the start of your first quarter, or by applying online

How do I receive advising once I am accepted into the Four-Year Graduation Pledge Program?

You will receive advising from your department during the orientation program and, at a later date, you will be assigned a permanent pledge advisor to assist you with your course of study.

During orientation, I was advised to take 12 units during Fall quarter. Will this negatively affect my program status?

No. Assuming that 180 units to degree are required, students must complete 25% of their requirements each year. This can be accomplished by taking 12 units in the fall and putting more units in the winter and spring or by using AP units. As always, please seek out your pledge advisor prior to adjusting your quarterly schedule.
