Congratulations to the 2008-2009 Paula Sandoval Recipients: Tomi Ann Sena, a graduate student in the Education Specialist credential program, and Kurt Klassen, a graduate student in the Master's program in Special Education.
About the Recipients
Tomi Ann Sena is a proud mother and parent of three children. She is obtaining her Education Specialist Credential for students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities. She plans to earn her Masters as well as her Doctorate in Special Education. She is committed to educating students with special needs.She has been inspired by a young man named Richard to complete her education and become a teacher. Richard has moderate to severe disabilities, and when she tutored him in ASL, he and Tomi learned so much from each other.
Kurt Klassen is a proud husband to his wife, Masako, and father to his son, Kanon. His future career goal is to remain active helping children educationally. He plans to continue to advance and grow professionally in the area of special education. Kurt is interested in seeking a special education program specialist position. His long-term goal is to pursue a law degree and then advocate for special education students in the areas of education and civil rights law.
