THE UNIVERSITY:
The University is one of the 23 campuses of the California State University (CSU), the largest system of higher education in the country . It is located approximately 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles in one of the most dynamic economic and cultural regions in the country. THE COLLEGE OF EXTENDED UNIVERSITY is a self-supporting branch of the university. In addition to a wide range of credit and non-credit continuing education courses and programs, the College manages the Cal Poly English Language Institute; the NASA Commercialization Center ; the Center for Training, Technology & Incubation (CTTI); and facilitates community outreach programs. Applicants for this position should have a demonstrated record of successful leadership as evidenced by programs either completed under their direct or indirect leadership. Additionally, the candidates should be able to demonstrate effective management of resources and externally solicited funding.
THE POSITION: The Dean of the College of the Extended University reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is a member of the Dean’s Council. The Dean’s responsibilities include; coordinating continuing education programs that serve professional and community needs on a regional, international and global basis;, promoting faculty involvement with adult learners, strengthening ties with businesses and industries; create opportunities for professional development for corporate/federal/state/ and municipal employees, and ensuring program quality and teaching effectiveness . Applicants for this position should demonstrate experience in fiscal management and an ability to act as a major collaborator who will champion new pedagogies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
APPOINTMENT AND COMPENSATION: The University seeks to fill this position at the earliest opportunity. Salary is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Applicants with a doctorate or other terminal degree may negotiate a possible faculty appointment with tenure in one of the colleges of the University.
