The Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (RSCA) program was established through a memo of understanding (MOU) between the Chancellor’s office and the California Faculty Association (CFA) to support the individual professional activities of members of Unit 3 – Faculty, Librarians, Coaches, and Counselors. Projects funded in the past include support for research studies, writing scholarly papers based on past work, writing textbooks or monographs, travel to archives, pilot studies, completing book proposals, scholarship of teaching and participating in clinical or professional workshops. The funds, by statute, are to be used for individual professional activities and are not meant for curriculum development (although this could be an outcome of individual professional activity) or for college/department development projects.
Proposals are reviewed by the University Research Council, an elected committee consisting of a representative from each college and school. The committee will recommend support to the President via the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs.
