Advance learning through instructional design, IT innovation, and instructional and technical support.

Strategic Directions and Tactics
  1. Offer technological and pedagogical services recognized by students, faculty, and staff as responsive, innovative and visionary.
    • Recruit and develop instructional design & implementation teams to support faculty course redesign efforts

      • Create a protocol for deciding which video requests can be handled (instruction-related, PR events, etc.) and when we charge
      • Promote streaming services to enhance online instruction
    • Define a clear purpose and mission for Studio 6
      • Examine current and potential use of the existing space, and resources, taking into account  faculty needs for privacy
      • Determine whom it should serve and in what ways
    • Develop closer integration of MediaVision and Studio 6 services
  1. Provide assistance with a variety of technologies, at a high level of excellence – excellence in terms of reliability, ease of use, quality of support and guidance.
    • Clarify relationships with I&IT Applications, Systems, Operations,  and Support to ensure that technologies have appropriate technical support
    • Review our Blackboard implementation and plan for the future of the campus LMS
    • Facilitate the creation of a Blackboard support environment which provides 24x7 system availability and over 99.7% uptime to users
    • Plan for the future – prioritization of equipment and software updates
  1. Create higher demand for our services that are customer-driven through effective marketing.  Our goal is that faculty and students will want what we offer, and we will offer what they want.
    • Conduct events to draw faculty members into our spaces so that they learn about our offerings
    • Find ways to engage the faculty in discussions of what we can offer, what they want, what their students need, etc.
    • Continually assess our services in terms of teaching and learning effectiveness
    • Market Studio 6 services to students – it’s a unique service that only we provide to students
  1. Implement ongoing planning and continuous improvement.
    • Clarify relationships with partners, including the Faculty Center for Professional Development, TQE, and DMA, and other CSUs, vendors, and other educational institutions in the global arena
    • Introduce assessment as a regular part of Learning’s work
    • Continue to enhance professional development of the staff
    • Facilitate better project management: determine who handles what projects… “What is everyone’s role in the team?”
