Blackboard Change to Protect Your Security

Blackboard has recently launched a new feature called Blackboard Sync for Facebook. This feature enables students with a Facebook account to access content housed within Blackboard courses. Because this feature uses your campus I.D and password, we must determine if these credentials are fully secured by the Facebook application before we consider activating this feature. If you have already started using this feature in Facebook, you will receive a notice that it has been blocked. This will in no way interfere with your ability to log in to your Blackboard account. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we try to ensure system security and integrity of your learning environment.

Change Your Password For Security

Students need to use secure passwords to access Blackboard. Students who do not have secure passwords will be sent emails advising them to change. To set your password, go to http://www.csupomona.edu, and click on "Change Your BroncoPassword."

Getting Ready for Fall 2008 Quarter

The following items provide information regarding what to do after maintenance:

Double-check your Fall 2008 courses
Please check to make sure your Fall 2008 courses have been auto-created in Blackboard. Your Fall 2008 courses should be listed under My Courses on the My Blackboard page. My Blackboard page is the first page you will see after you log in successfully.
If you cannot find your Fall 2008 courses, please contact the Help Desk at (909)869-6776.

Make sure your Fall 2008 courses are available
All the Fall 2008 courses that have been auto-created during the quarterly maintenance will be “unavailable”. This is to prevent any confusion if you decide not to use the course site. If you would like to use the course, please make the course available to your students.

No Need to Use the Course Request Form
Please note that after the quarterly maintenance, you do NOT need to fill out Blackboard course request form to request a new course site for winter since all Fall 2008 courses will have been auto-created.

Archived Course/Organization Restore
To restore courses and organizations that have been archived from the Blackboard system, please fill out the course restore form.

Copy Course Materials from Previous Quarter
If the previous course has not been archived from the Blackboard system, you can copy course materials to the Fall 2008 course yourself. If the previous course has been archived from the Blackboard system, you will need to request the archived course to be restored and then copy the course material.

Important Note Regarding College of Extended University (CEU) Students

In order to ensure CEU students have access to Blackboard courses in a timely manner, please follow these instructions:

Registration
After signing the Open University Petition and Prerequisite Form brought to you by the student on the first day of class, please encourage the student to submit the forms to the CEU office (Building 220-C) and pay their fees as soon as possible. Once the CEU receives the forms and payment, the student will be entered into the system for account creation.

Bronco Account Activation
After the student’s account has been created, the student must activate their Bronco account.  For instructions, please visit: http://www.csupomona.edu/~ehelp/idm/account-claiming.html

Blackboard Enrollment
Once the student’s Bronco account is activated, the instructor will need to manually enroll the students into their Blackboard courses.

Other Campus Maintenance Schedule

Campus networks and services may experience maintenance outages between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. daily and between 9:30 p.m. and midnight on Thursdays. These outages may affect Blackboard. For more information, see the Alerts, Status, and Maintenance page.
