Bronco Basketball Games To Be Aired

Cal Poly Pomona doubleheaders to be carried by Adelphia

POMONA  ¾ Cal Poly Pomona’s men’s and women’s basketball programs will be earning some exposure on cable television.

Adelphia Communications, Adelphia Channel KADL-TV 10, will be televising five men’s and women’s basketball doubleheaders beginning with Cal Poly Pomona’s Pack the Gym Night on Friday, Jan. 21. The games will be broadcast on tape delay at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. the day after the games.

In addition to the Cal Poly Pomona-Cal State San Bernardino doubleheader, Adelphia will also carry the Cal Poly Pomona-Cal State Bakersfield games on Feb. 11, the Cal Poly Pomona-Chico State games on Feb. 19, the Cal Poly Pomona-Cal State Dominguez Hills games on March 2 and the Cal Poly Pomona-Cal State Monterey Bay games on March 4.

Anthony Sarinana and Greg Flores will call the action for Adelphia.

The broadcasts are being made possible thanks to the efforts of Adelphia Communications, Cal Poly Pomona’s Associated Students, Inc. and the Cal Poly Pomona Athletic Department.

Games will be aired in Pomona, Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights and Walnut, but Adelphia customers throughout the Inland Valley and Inland Empire can call their local Adelphia offices and ask to have the games aired on their local channel.

In addition, those on the Cal Poly Pomona campus can view the action on Channel 33. Currently, the men’s basketball team’s exciting 84-70 victory over BYU-Hawaii, filmed on Jan. 3, is being shown.

Both Cal Poly Pomona teams have enjoyed great success over the past five years. A Bronco basketball team has reached the NCAA Division II West Region championship game for five consecutive years. During that time span, the women’s team has won a pair of NCAA Division II national championships in 2001 and 2002, while the men’s team captured the 2003 NCAA Division II West Region title.

Cal Poly Pomona’s women’s team is currently 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while the men’s team is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference. Both teams are just one game out of first place.
