LA MIRADA¾ Cal Poly Pomona’s offense continues to click on all cylinders.

The Broncos followed their 15-run outburst on Saturday with a 10-run explosion on Tuesday and defeated Biola University, 10-1. Cal Poly Pomona (2-1) has scored 30 runs in its first three games.

Jason Marcus (Sr., San Dimas, Mt. SAC) clubbed his third home run of the season and drove in four runs to lead the Cal Poly Pomona attack. Marcus had a three-run home run to highlight a five-run second inning and added a run-scoring double in a three-run fifth inning. That inning also included RBI doubles from Matt Lopez (Fr., Lancaster, Quartz Hill HS) and Andy Gonzales (Fr., Whittier, California HS). Jonathan Alexander (Sr., Covina, Citrus College) added a solo home run in the eighth inning and Jose Munoz (Jr., Baldwin Park, Rio Hondo JC) completed the scoring with a run-scoring single in the ninth.

Kevin Waldinger (Sr., Yorba Linda, Fullerton JC), who tied a school record last season with five saves, started Tuesday and allowed only one run and four hits in five innings to pick up the win. Jason Johnson (Jr., San Diego, Cypress JC) hurled two innings of hitless relief and Chris Amaya (Sr., Rancho Cucamonga, Rancho Cucamonga HS) and Justin Carty (Fr., Montclair, Montclair HS) completed the win with one inning of scoreless relief each.

After losing their season opener in Azusa to Azusa Pacific, 8-5, the Broncos have responded with a 15-7 win over the Cougars and the 10-1 win over Biola (0-1).
