Broncos Fall In Singles Semis

 

Cal Poly Pomona players dropped in Bronco Tennis Classic

 

POMONA ¾ Cal Poly Pomona’s men’s tennis team didn’t have the super Sunday the Broncos were hoping for.

      The Broncos had three players reach the semifinals in their respective brackets, but all three lost their singles matches in the Bronco Tennis Classic Sunday at Cal Poly Pomona.

      Cal Poly Pomona’s Ryan Terry (Jr., Diamond Bar, Diamond Bar HS) fell to Jamie Maxwell of College of the Desert in a three-set thriller, 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (1-7) in the Men’s Singles Flights 1-4, while teammate JR Villaroman (Sr., Anaheim, Troy HS) fell to Sameer Chopra of UC San Diego in the other semi, 4-6, 3-6.

      In the Men’s Singles Flights 5-8, Cal Poly Pomona’s Seamus Sullivan (Jr., Palos Verdes, Peninsula HS) lost to Blake Hayden-Wilson of UC San Diego, 5-7, 5-7.

      In doubles, Terry and Andy Roland (Jr., Hollywood, Glendale CC) advanced to the semi-final scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
