WALNUT CREEK – Two outstanding performances in two big wins for Cal Poly Pomona meant one nice honor for senior forward Raymond Hubbard.
Hubbard was named the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 3-9 after his outstanding efforts in the Broncos’ wins at Cal State Stanislaus and Cal State Bakersfield. Hubbard, a senior from Chicago who is now in his second season with Cal Poly Pomona, led the Broncos with 17 points, six rebounds, one blocked shot and a steal in a 70-65 win over Cal State Stanislaus and then followed that up with a game-high 16 points, nine rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot and as assist in Cal Poly Pomona’s memorable 67-47 win over Cal State Bakersfield, the Broncos’ first win in Bakersfield in 20 years.
For the week, Hubbard averaged 16.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocked shots for the Broncos (4-1, 2-0).
Hubbard is second on the team in scoring this season with a 12.2 points per game average and leads in rebounding with 7.2 per game.
