If members of a university are like a series of moving gears, you can simply say that each gear relies on the next. One can’t work or progress without the other. This comprises students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors, as well as administrators such as me.
Together we represent work in progress for this great university.
I assure you that each gift at every level of support you generously provide directly results in enhanced academic opportunities for Cal Poly Pomona faculty and students. In turn, they are better equipped to educate and mentor others while sustaining this cycle of progress.
And just as gears need a little oiling and maintenance from time to time, so, too, must we pay attention to our areas of need. Students today are facing increased challenges to keep up with the rising cost of education. State institutions, such as Cal Poly Pomona, are faced with a greater need to augment our state budget, which provides us with only 66 percent of what it takes to educate a student. With your help, we can help close that gap.
Last year, Cal Poly Pomona generated $26.5 million in external support. On the pages ahead, please see how this support has made a tremendous impact on our academic mission. I look forward to many more years of work in progress with you.
