Cal Poly Pomona

Welcome to Senior Project - CHM 491 & CHM 492

Important Information for CHM 491 & CHM 492 Students:

Please read the document "Senior Project Requirements" for your complete guide to a successful and educational senior project.

  • Please allow a minimum of three (3) quarters for finishing your senior project. Seniors who enroll in CHM 491 two quarter prior to their expected graduation date usually find themselves delaying their graduation and post-graduation plans in order to finish their senior project. "I need to graduate!" and/or "I have to start graduate school next quarter" are not sufficient reasons for petitioning from senior project.
  • To enroll in CHM 491 & CHM 492, all students must submit a completed Enrollment Form to the Department office.
  • All CHM 491 students must attend an orientation and safety seminar during the second week of the quarter - Check with the Department office for the exact time and location for orientation.
  • Students who have received an exemption from attending orientation must obtain the proper documents from Dr. Anz and then schedule a safety seminar with either Carolyn Forrester (x3666) or Janet Almassy (x3665).
  • STUDENTS THAT DO NOT ATTEND THE SAFETY SEMINAR OR STUDENTS THAT DO NOT PASS THE SAFETY EXAM THAT IS ADMINISTERED AT THE END OF THE SAFETY SEMINAR WILL BE ASSIGNED A GRADE OF 'F' FOR CHM 491 & CHM 492.
  • By default, all students will receive a grade of "RP" for CHM 491 & CHM 492. Your advisor will change the "RP" grade into a letter grade when you complete your senior project proposal, submit your dissertation, and submit all the necessary clearance forms.
  • Registration in CHM 491 or CHM 492 and the "RP" grades that are given are valid for a one-year period from the time the "RP" grade is assigned. If it has been more than a year since your enrollment in CHM 491 or CHM 492, then you will need to register again for CHM 491 and/or CHM 492 in order to receive a final letter grade.
