Financing a Future
I was one of the lucky ones. When it came time for my siblings and me to go to college, my parents sacrificed by restructuring our family budget that — in combination with scholarships and work — allowed all five of us to complete our degrees without the burden of student loans. However, not all families have such an option.
Over the years, there have been countless students whose academic dreams have relied on financial aid.
While the California State University system remains the best bargain in higher education, paying for that education is still a daunting challenge for many. To support more Californians in their educational endeavors is the goal of Assembly Bill 2813, authored by Assemblyman Hector De La Torre (D-South Gate) and co-sponsored by the CSU and the California State Students Association.
