Recognizing the total impact of the California State University (CSU) is an eye-opening experience for many Californians. But there is an adage that “all politics are local,” and although big picture statistics are interesting, many want to know about their industry, their community and their school.

Those individual interests are being addressed in a series of statewide events focusing on critical industries that benefit
from the CSU. The first of these Impact Days was held on Feb. 4 at Fresno State with a spotlight on agriculture. Agriculture
remains one of the largest and most widespread industries in California, playing a vital role in the state’s economy. California has more than four times as many people working in agriculture or forestry fields than throughout the United States as a whole. Nearly every region in the state, including the Inland Valley, has a distinct specialization in agriculture, food
