| The Department
of Mathematics & Statistics at Cal Poly Pomona
has been awarded an Improving Teacher Quality
Grant from the California Postsecondary Education
Commission. The grant for the Math and Science
Teacher Education, Recruitment, and Retention
(MaSTER2) program is under the pipeline initiative
with goals of improving the quantity and quality
of teachers in math and science and establishing
strong learning communities among local
schools
and the university.
The MaSTER2 program at Cal
Poly will be actively recruiting students
into the math/science teaching pipeline.
The program will support students pursuing
a teaching career and a degree in mathematics
through faculty mentoring, economic support,
peer tutoring, collaborative study groups,
advising, and social inclusion in campus
life. Students in the program will have
the opportunity to complete a tutoring certificate
program through the Department of Mathematics
& Statistics
and some with a strong mathematics background
and an eager interest in teaching middle
and high school mathematics will be chosen
as Community Teaching Fellows.
If
you would like more information about MaSTER2
program at Cal Poly or have questions about
