The internship
requirements are:
- Work
for 100 hours in an intern position related to GIS. (Discuss with me to see if the job will
qualify for the intern.) Although
assistances will be given, students are responsible for searching
and applying the intern positions.
Both paid and unpaid positions may qualify for the intern position.
- A
letter from your supervisor to acknowledge that you've fulfilled the
hour requirement and to clarify the type of work you’ve performed.
- Write
and submit a report (5 - 10 pages written text) about your intern
experience. The report should
include the following:
- Description
of your intern position.
- What
did you learn during your intern experience (technical skills or
job related experiences)?
- How
does the intern experience influence your decisions for future career
choices?
- Other
unique perspectives related to your particular experience.
- Any
sample work (Maps, charts, etc.) you may provide that will demonstrate
your accomplishment during the intern period.
The 100 hours
of work do not have to be completed during the quarter you sign up for
geo451. You may complete the
work before, during or after the quarter of registration. If you cannot complete the work before the quarter
ends, you may request an incomplete for the grade.
