The Virtual Technical Reports Center
Links to institutions providing either full-text reports or searchable abstracts of their technical reports. Also links to preprints, reprints, dissertations, theses, and research reports.

Government Agencies

Many technical reports are published by government agencies. Several agencies provide free public access to their technical report databases:

Bureau of Mines
Search for reports and journal articles.

Contrails
Formerly known as the Wright Air Development Center Digital Collection. Digital archive of government published materials on the history of flight.

DOE Information Bridge
Provides the full-text and bibliographic records of Department of Energy sponsored report literature produced by the DOE and DOE contractor research and development community since 1995. Research topics include physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy. Also available is a database of earlier reports from DOE and its predecessor agencies: Energy Citations Database, 1948 - Present.

DTIC Scientific and Technical Information Network
DTIC is the Defense Technical Information Center. This database contains citations to unclassified, unlimited reports from the Department of Defense; December 1974 to present. The site also provides access to the DOD Index of Specifications and Standards.

NASA Technical Report Server (NTRS)
Provides access to NASA generated and sponsored scientific and technical literature. Reports and articles from other sources are also included (e.g., arXiv, BioMed Central, and Energy Citation Database). You must use Advanced Search to include non-NASA material (see About NTRS).

TRIS Online
A database of over 400,000 books, journal articles, and technical reports on transportation research from the 1960s to the present. TRIS stands for Transportation Research Information Services.
