Library Catalog

Use the Library Catalog to find books and other materials in the Library. In addition to books, all of the Library's journals, newspapers, recordings, reports, software, and any other holdings are in the Library Catalog. Electronic journals and electronic books are also cataloged and the Library Catalog has links to the electronic materials.

Do not use the Library Catalog if you want to search for journal articles. Use the databases described below to search for journal articles.

Databases provide subject access to journal articles, reports, standards, and other publications. The Cal Poly Pomona Library provices access to nearly 100 databases. The Databases & Article Searching page is your starting point for finding journal articles. Choose Engineering in the drop-down menu and look for these databases:

Reference Sources: Handbooks and Directories

Use handbooks for data, facts, formulas, etc. Handbooks also include chapters on basic aspects of the disciplines are an excellent place to go for an overview or background information on topics like: information technology, quatitative methods, manufacturing processes and tools, planning, scheduling, and quality control.

ASM Handbooks Online
Complete content of the ASM Handbook series (Ref TA 459 M43). Properties of materials; plus volumes on welding, heat treating, cassting, machining, and more.

On the Internet

Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE)
Membership and career information, industry news, selected articles from Industrial Engineer magazine.

Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME)
Employment opportunities, education and training, industry news, selected articles from Manufacturing Engineering and other SME magazines. Also note the Student Zone link on the bottom of the homepage.

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES)
Includes an "Information for Students" section.

NIST - National Institute of Standards and Technology
Several sections are of interest to Industrial & Manufacturing Engineers: Baldridge National Quality Program, Manufacturing Extension Partnership, and Advanced Technology Program (all links on homepage).
