Copyright & Intellectual Property Symposium 2008

Confused about copyright and intellectual property issues? Ever wonder who owns the online courses you develop? If you would like to gain a more focused understanding of these matters, then please join us for a full day of conversation with Mr. Ieuan Mahony, a Boston-based attorney who is the Technology Partner of Holland & Knight, one of the 15 largest law firms in the world.

Mr. Mahony will be coming to Cal Poly, Pomona on Monday, March 24th, 2008. Drawing on his extensive experience involving software development disputes, data security and pharmaceutical matters in the industry and representing colleges and universities on intellectual property ownership, licensing, traditional and online media, patent, and copyright issues, he will provide clear-cut answers to those troublesome questions and suggest preventive solutions. This interactive, day-long event is being co-sponsored by the Instructional and Information Technology (I&IT) Learning, the University Library and the Faculty Center for Professional Development. The day's activities will include:

9:00 – 11:00 a.m. - An overview of copyright and intellectual property issues by Ieuan Mahony

11:00 – 12:00 noon - Extensive question and answer sessions

1:00 – 4:00 p.m. - Focused, small-group discussions with opportunities to delve into more detailed questions (Optional)

This is a unique opportunity to come together with your colleagues to address issues that impact us as individuals and as a campus community. The event will be held at the Bronco Student Center (URSA Major A-C) from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, followed by optional small group discussions and consultations with Mr. Mahony in the afternoon.
