Holds: When an Item is Already Checked Out

When an item in the Library Catalog is unavailable due to having a status of “In Process” or has a due date (signifying it is checked out), Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty and staff can place a hold on that item.

Placing a hold on an item means that you will be notified (by campus E-mail or regular mail) when an item that you requested becomes available. You may pick it up at the Reserve/Media Desk on the 2nd floor. If the item is currently checked out, we expect the item to be returned by the due date; however, we do not have direct control over when the current holder of the item actually returns it.

TO PLACE A HOLD

Search the Library Catalog for the item you want.  The screen shots below are of an item record in a short display and in a long display.  Note that the item shows a due date in the status box (which means it can have a hold place on it).
