Objectives are listed in order by leading
modifiable causes of employee health care claims costs. Reference:
Worksite Health, journal of Association of Worksite Health Promotion,
Winter issue 96.
Stress / Mental Health
Self-Rating
- increase by 15% (from 52% to 60%) the
proportion feeling capable and competent at managing stress and
relaxing effectively
- increase by 10% (from 72% to 79%) the
proportion rating mental outlook, nerves and spirits good to
excellent
Sedentary / Lack of Physical
Activity
- increase by 15% (from 39% to 45%) doing
cardiovascular exercise 3+ times per week
- increase by 15% (from 35% to 40%) doing
strength training at least 2 times per week
Obesity / Overweight
- decrease by 25% (from 55% to 40%) proportion
of men expecting to be 10% or more overweight 20 years from now.
NOTE: only 15% of CPP women are 10% or more overweight and 18%
expect to be at a weight that would put them at 10% or more overweight
in 20 years.
Nutrition
- increase by 15% (from 46% to 53%) eating
=/> 5 servings of vegetables and fruit per day
- decrease 15% (from 52% to 44%) eating
>7 oz. meat/fish/poultry/cheese (high fat / high protein)
foods per day
Overall Physical Health
Self-Rating
- increase by 10% (from 75% to 83%) the
ratings of physical health as good and excellent
Alcohol and Other Drugs
- decrease by 15% (from 5.1 to 4.3) drinks
per week misperception (perceived without and with accurate information
of drinking norms 5.1 and 3.2, respectively)
- increase by 5% (from 83% to 87%) students
who did not binge drink in past 2 weeks
Clinical Measures
- increase 15% (from 65% to 72%) know if
blood pressure description is high or normal
- increase 400% (from 5% to 20%) know total
cholesterol numbers
- increase by 15% (from 52% to 60%) having
ever had Pap test
Sexual Health
- decrease by 15% (from 43% to 36%) perception
of others with 2+ sex partners in past year (actual perceived
without and with fact 43% and 33%, respectively)
- increase by 15% (from 42% to 48%) proportion
with 2 sex partners in past year ALWAYS using condoms
- increase by 25% (from 34% to 43%) proportion
with 3+ sex partners in past year ALWAYS using condoms
BSE / TSE
- Females - increase by 200% (from 17% to
34%) doing BSE monthly
- Males - increase by 300% (from 9% to 27%)
doing TSE monthly
