Sources for Math Education
       
Education Full Text
The Education Full Text database is a good starting point for finding articles in the more popular education journals. From the Library Homepage, click on the Databases link to get to the Databases page. Click on the Letter "E" to find link to the Education Full Text database.

When there are links or icons for full text  for the article you want to read, click on that icon (as in number 27 at right)

If there is no full text link or icon, then click on the "Find It!" button.(As in number 30 at right).

  Right: when you click on a full text link or icon, you will eventually get to a copy of the article you can read on the screen (this is number 27, from the screen above). Since this is a PDF file on the web, you can print it out or save it to a storage device.

  Right: This is the screen that results from clicking on the "Find It!" button in number30, above. Click on the links that say "Full Text"; this will eventually lead you to a copy of the article that you can read right on the screen. If there is no "Full Text" available, then click on the "Check Holdings" links to see if we have it in the Library Catalog.

If there are no holdings in the catalog, then click on the "Document Delivery" link (not shown on this screen) to get a copy from another place (this uses our "Get materials" functions)

  Right:  Clicking on the "Check for Holdings" link on the Find It screen searches the catalog for the journal. The record for the journal in the catalog might reveal an additional source for a full text copy of the article (1, right) or what years or volumes we have here in the building (2a, right) and where in the building we have the particular volume and year and what call number it can be found under (2b, right). right arrow

The ERIC Database

Look under “E” for ERIC on the Databases Page. After you start up the ERIC database, you will be taken to the Firstsearch website and be presented with a basic search screen for ERIC. The ERIC database is composed of two kinds for records: those that lead to journal articles and those that lead to ERIC documents.

ERIC documents are items that did not make it into regular book or journal publication. You will often find such local documents as lesson plans, curricula, and policy documents.

  Then look for the "Find It!" button on the resulting screen. Then use the resulting screen to look for full text, search the catalog, or use document delivery (Find It! is more fully explained in the Education Full Text search example, above)
