The College of the Extended University (CEU) is a self-supporting college that services the University's life-long learning and public-private partnership mission with a portfolio of diverse programs . The programs extend the education capacity of the university and enhance the applied research opportunities for faculty and students .
The Interim Manager of Business Services is responsible for the strategic direction and line management of CEU wide business operations . The CEU operates as a self supporting college and therefore relies on the success of its programs and strength of its supporting departments . The incumbent manages the following units within the College: Open University Registration; Marketing, Grants and Contracts; Information Technology; and the Center for Training, Technology and Incubation (CTTi); tracks and monitors the department performance, budgets, financial forecasts and projections and assists in preparing yearly budgets; provides leadership and the strategic direction for each unit; plans, implements, and manages credit and non-credit class registration via Open University . The incumbent directs marketing and assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of marketing efforts; oversees grant and contract development; monitors and coordinates grant and contract activities and ensures compliance with funding agency regulations and rules; leads and supports new initiatives directly or indirectly through oversight of the implementation of CEU quality standards and operating procedures; participates in the selection, planning and development of new initiatives originating within CEU, other Cal Poly Pomona colleges or operating units, and external partners . The Interim Manager of Business Services acts as the business incubation program spokesperson and represents the dean at university and system-wide meetings as needed; participates in the planning and management of personnel matters in CEU; manages the College's IT functions, including the oversight and practices of PeopleSoft/PeopleWare Pro and CEU databases; and performs other duties as assigned.
The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field AND a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a related field and familiar with continuing education . The candidate must have good knowledge in business operations, databases, data analysis using Excel, business presentation using PowerPoint and a valid California driver's license and insurance. The ability to act independently and provide strategic direction within complex environments; strong problem solving and decision making skills; supervise staff, manage resources, in addition to building and motivating teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in a related field is preferred . Fam iliar with accounting, website management, and distance learning is desirable. The ability to work collaboratively and effectively within all levels of an organization and across culturally diverse constituencies and the ability to lead new initiatives on a local and global level is preferred.
APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
