| Windsong Southland Chorale
is a community chorus centered in Ontario, California founded by Artistic
Director, Dr. Janet Harms in 1995. Drawing members from an astonishingly
large area of Southern California, this unique ensemble's splendid
and impressive success has rapidly established itself as one of the
leading choral organizations in the southern part of the state. The
fourth season concluded in June 1999 when the Chorale traveled to
New York City to perform at the world famous Carnegie Hall, receiving
a standing ovation. The fifth season included a June 2000 tour to
Northern California, with performances in Santa Barbara and Paso Robles.
In June 2001 the Chorale once again performed in Carnegie presenting
Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with 200 additional singers from the New
York area. In addition, Windsong presented a solo performance of Stephen
Paulus' "Embracing All" (New York debut) and Rene Clausen's
"Gloria". The chorale was accompanied by a 12 member instrumental
ensemble consisting of faculty and advanced music majors from Azusa
Pacific University in Azusa, California. The Chorale plans a third
trip to Carnegie Hall in June 2002 when they will present the Poulenc
"Gloria" on June 9, 2002. An international tour to Scandinavia
and St. Petersburg, Russia is also planned for late June, 2002. Singers
interested in auditioning for the chorale and participating in these
concert tours can contact Dave Davis, treasurer and member of the
Board of Directors, at 909-985-4156. |
