** Human Rights **
Amnesty International is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights. The web site of the U.S. section of Amnesty International may be accessed at AIUSA.Current and past Human Rights Reports from the U.S. Department of State.
Human Rights Watch is a non-governmental organization concerned with the rights of people around the world. Its annual World Report analyzes each region of the world and provides concise reports on the status of human rights in individual countries. Check the Human Rights Watch site for current information on the human rights crisis in Darfur, Sudan.
Peace Brigades International (PBI) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) which protects human rights and promotes nonviolent transformation of conflicts. When invited, we send teams of volunteers into areas of repression and conflict. The volunteers accompany human rights defenders, their organizations and others threatened by political violence. Perpetrators of human rights abuses usually do not want the world to witness their actions. The presence of volunteers backed by a support network helps to deter violence. PBI creates space for local activists to work for social justice and human rights.
Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative addresses five issues required for greater human development and security: (1) fostering more equitable interntional trade and development, (2) strengthening efforts to realize the human right to health, (3) shaping more humane migration policies, (4) encouraging women's leadership, and (5) influencing corporate social responsibility. Its missionis to put human rights standards at the heart of global governance and policy-making and to ensure that the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable are addressed on the global stage. Realizing Rights was founded in October 2002 by Mary Robinson , former President of Ireland (1990-1997) and former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002).

Association for Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an inter-governmental organization similar to the European Union. See its Press Releases, Speeches, and Articles sections for primary documents.
The European Union is an IGO with regional membership and multiple purposes. Its authority structure is one of pooled sovereignty, under which the member states grant the EU legal authority to make some collective decisions for them.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the world's center of cooperation in the nuclear field. It was set up as the world's "Atoms for Peace" organization in 1957 within the United Nations family. The Agency works with its Member States and multiple partners worldwide to promote safe, secure and peaceful nuclear technologies.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This official site includes the 1949 NATO treaty.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a multilateral financial institution dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific. Established in 1966, ADB is now owned by 63 members, mostly from the region.
The International Data Base of the U.S. Census Bureau includes demographic data for all countries.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an IGO with global membership created to promote international monetary cooperation and to facilitate the expansion and balanced growth of international trade by promoting exchange stability.
The NAFTA Secretariat is responsible for the administration of the dispute processing provisions of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Its site includes the full text of the agreement.
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is a group of advanced industrial states based in Paris. OECD is known for its policy studies of social and economic issues. It also serves as a forum for industrial states to discuss common problems, economic policies, and policy coordination.
Turning Point Project is a non-governmental organization concerned with the major issues of the new millennium.
The World Bank has come to be the most widely recognized label for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). Together these organizations provide low-interest loans, interest-free credit, and grants to developing countries.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. The Non-governmental Organizations Research Guide of Duke University's Perkins Library is a database of some of the larger and more influential NGOs operating internationally. The research guide is limited to NGOs which focus on one environmentally sustainable development, human rights, and/or women in development, produce publications of research value to university users and policymakers, and are large, influential organizations as demonstrated by affiliations with other organizations, directory listings, and currently maintained web sites.

The World Citizen Foundation is committed to world citizenship and the global rule of law as the basis for a future world democracy.
The Worldwatch Institute web site contains information on how to build a sustainable society.

The Federation of American Scientists'

is a valuable resource for understanding the issue of nuclear weapons proliferation
on the Korean Peninsula.
The Global Movement for a Culture of Peace is dedicated to creating a "culture of peace" to replace the "culture of war."
The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia web page includes the statute of this international court and reports on the progress of the Tribunal in prosecuting the perpetuators of violence in the former state of Yugoslavia.
