Project Director: Dr. Stanley Bassin

Professor of Kinesiology and Health Promotion at Cal Poly- Pomona and Adjunct Professor of Medicine, University of California,Irvine. Dr. Bassin was the Director of the Montebello School Based Comprehensive Health Project, is recognized internationally for expertise in minority youth risks of cardiovascular disease. He was the principal consultant for the Comprehensive Health Elementary School Assessment in Budapest, Hungary. He is currently serving on the Hispanic Caucus and is the consultant to the State Senate Youth Health Sub-Committee.

Project Co-Director: Dr. Don Morris

Professor of Kinesiology and Health Promotion at Cal Poly-Pomona. Dr. Morris was a charter member of the Healthy Kids, Healthy California Statewide Task Force and was one of the original six priciple authors. Dr. Morris has extensive background in the development and implementation of comprehensive health, tobacco, and physical education curriculum. He has provided staff development training for over 250 elementary and secondary schools during the past 8 years. He has served as principal author for three BEH (Bureau of Education for the Handicapped) Training Grants, written five books ranging from curriculum and instruction to comprehensive wellness and is known for his extensive work helping children become responsible for themselves. Dr. Morris is a Fulbright Scholar conducting research and programmatic assistance for educators in Norway.

Health Education Consultant: Dr. Kristine Brown

Assistant Professor of Kinesiology and Health Promotion at Cal Poly-Pomona. Dr. Brown has considerable experience in conducting adolescent and adult education school-based programs in Illinois and Florida. She is developing an extensive health promotion program for undergraduate students at Cal Poly.

Nutrition Education: Dr. Anahid Crecelius

Professor of Food and Nutritional Sciences at Cal Poly-Pomona. She has considerable experience in infusing tobacco prevention education within nutrition programs. Dr. Crecelius has done extensive work in community and school-based projects including Project TRAP and is a Fulbright Scholar conducting studies in Asia and the Middle East.

Epidemiologist: Dr. Nathan Wong

Associate Professor of Medicine, University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine. Dr. Wong has an extensive background in research design and statistical evaluation procedures. He has served in this capacity in several longitudinal studies at the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine and has worked collaboratively with our Cal Poly University team members.

Medical Consultant: Dr. Beverly Morgan Pediatrician

Pediatric Cardiology, University of California, Irvine, California. Dr. Morgan is a distinguished professor who has served on numerous international and national projects. She has been the Director of two Pediatric Departments.

Program Site Manager: Alane Daugherty

M.S.Lecturer in Kinesiology and Health Promotion Department at Cal Poly-Pomona. With a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology and a curriculum/instruction site experience, Ms. Daugherty brings a great deal of staff and program development expertise to this project. As a former classroom teacher, she understands what it takes to implement a comprehensive health program.
