SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION I

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Students will investigate possible careers in biology that match their interests and talents..
  • Students will know how to access library and internet resources so that they can effectively search biological literature, document sources of information, and use notes and outlines to organize information.
  • Students will know how to critically read the scientific literature and summarize research papers..
  • Students will learn to write abstracts and synopses of scientific literature.

GRADES AND ATTENDANCE

  • Grades are based on attendance and completion of eight assignments.
  • Each assignment is worth 20 points, for a total of 160 points for assignments.
  • Attendance is worth 40 points (5 points/weekly session)
  • Assignments are distributed at the beginning of each class so you must arrive on time.
  • There will be no exams.
  • Assignments will not be accepted late for any reason. In the event of illness or other emergencies, assignments may be placed under my office door or sent to me by email before the scheduled class time.
